The statue of Elroy Johnson overlooks Casco Bay at Land’s End Bailey Island.   It is not only a tribute to Mr. Johnson and his contributions to the fishing industry and Harpswell’s culture, but to the long history of Maine fishermen.  The weathered bronze fisherman and the surrounding Rose Rigosa in bloom, though opposite in appearance, seemed to complement one another by representing the hardiness of life in coastal Maine.
